Sidmouth running club run leader Clive Gilbert went all out on Saturday sporting a very natty hat to celebrate Seaton park run’s 8th birthday, which helped him achieve his new Seaton PB, 23:24. Over in Sicily Derek was gaining celebratory status at one of three park runs there, Uditore. Derek said visitors to this park run were clearly a novelty as he had a photo taken with just about everyone who took part (39 runners). The Mighty Green also celebrated his best finish, 10th and was first place in his age category. Over in Italy, Don and Deb Cawthera ran Farfalle park run with 21 other runners and finished in 11th and 13th place respectively with Deb second female finisher.
Several Mighty Greens headed out of the valley to take part in South West Road Runner’s Drogo 10 on Sunday. Against the backdrop of Castle Drogo under a clear blue sky the Mighty Greens enjoyed the exciting and challenging multi terrain 10 mile route, taking in the stunning views of the Teign Valley making the 1760 feet of elevation worthwhile! Martin Barnard was the first and only SRC male to finish in 1:30:06 and Sarah Clapham the first SRC female to finish in 2:05:22. Sarah enjoyed running in the beautiful peaceful setting along leafy paths which weren’t too muddy but hid stoney trip hazards which MG Clare Luke nearly came a cropper on! All finishers received a mini towel with the Drogo castle logo on. Results: Martin Barnard 1:30:06; Sarah Clapham 2:05:22; Alice Gill 2:10:14; Catherine Hilton 2:10:42; Clare Luke 2:18:06; Sarah Watkins 2:18:06; Carol Hounsell 2:18:07
