SRC junior leaders Grahame and Donna Womersley-Westlake immersed themselves in the River Dart Rumble alongside daughter Amelia and SRC junior Christopher Witkowski last weekend. Set within the River Dart Country Park the 5k route included a mixture of natural and manmade obstacles including chest deep, ice cold water crossings, crawling through the pirate ship, cargo nets and an underground water filled pipe! The awesome foursome received a medal for their valiant efforts before changing into dry warm clothes. Amelia and Chris certainly put their new SRC Junior Crew buffs to the test, which chairman Terry Bewes presented to all the juniors at the last session before half term.
Emily Smith was also flying the junior SRC flag, taking part in Ruby Red Runnings’ 5k Dalwood Dash alongside SRC’s Polly Iddon. The multi terrain run around the beautiful countryside of Dalwood does involve a hill or two but the Mighty Greens know how to tackle them! Polly certainly did, first female to finish in 32:01:09, 4th overall and U14 Emily finished in 40:20:07, 6th female and 10th overall to finish!

In preparation for his first marathon in May, SRC’s Bob Huntington ran the excellent Exeter City Community Trust half marathon as a 2hr 30min pacer. The Mighty Green really enjoyed the course and met some lovely people, many of whom he encouraged to beat him over the line. A great motivator.
