Sidmouth Running Club was represented by Yasmin Salter and Alice Gill on Sunday at the Bath Half organised by London Marathon Events. Both finished the fairly level loop either side of the river Avon with PB’s; Yasmin in 1:51:53 and Alice in 1:59:21. Yasmin said it was a perfect day for running and the crowd support was amazing.
Officially 22 Mighty Greens were at 7 park run events this weekend but unofficially a few more at Killerton!
The following Juniors were at Killerton – Theo Opie, Christopher & Catherine Witowski, Amelia Womersley, Alfie & Charlie Drew – along with parents Jon, Merek, Jodie, Grahame and Donna. In total 11 of the MG family, including 9 members. Amelia recorded a new PB by over a minute.
There was an equally impressive turnout at Cranbrook with 8 members – Andrew de Gruchy, Christine Farnham, Bex McDonald, Ali Williams, Sarah Clapham, Scott Chown, Emma Grainger, and Clive Gilbert. Christine, Emma and Sarah, who recently reached her 100th PR milestone, all came top in their age groups.
At the other local events, we had Sam Ingram and Lesley Miszewska at Exmouth, Janice Ransom and Julia Haddrell at Greendale, and Mark Norton, Christie Ward, Steve Saunders and John Sharples at Seaton. Julia bagged a new Greendale PB and was top in her age group.
Jason Blount and Derek Blackburn were both overseas. Jason competed at Donaupark (Vienna) where he waltzed around the course despite the icy conditions and sleet and Derek ran in Kuala Lumpur (Presint 18) for the third time in three months – and this week came top in his age group.
Mighty Green congratulations go to Carla Martin who recently completed the beginners’ course and the 5k non-stop run. There will be no stopping her now!
