On Wednesday evening, two of this year’s Sidmouth Running Club beginners lined up by the flagpole on the seafront ready to take on the 5k challenge only a month into their course.
Run leaders Terry Bewes and Kathy Jordan were confident they were ready for the challenge to run 3 miles continuously and along with Kerry Salter accompanied them along the route, encouraging them all the way. Congratulations to Jo May and Jane Ealand-Hicks Mighty Greens indeed.
The Womersley-Westlake family took part in Purple Gecko’s Haldon Winter 5k run on Sunday, billed as a timed no pressure trail run around the beautiful Haldon forest. Junior leaders Grahame and Donna said it was an excellent event with some great trails and a few ‘little’ lumps. There was a great atmosphere, from the friendly welcome to the encouraging marshals. Their daughter Ameilia, age 8, found the hills tough but surprised herself with an overall finishing place of 21 out of 46 and first junior female to finish! The junior Mighty Green has maintained her New Year streak by running a race every weekend so far in 2025!
