A Variety Of Runs

Sidmouth Running Club Junior run leaders Donna and Grahame Womersley-Westlake took advantage of the half term break and spent a good day running the 66k East Devon Way.  They have since been recognised as having the fastest known time for mixed couple, self-supported run of the EDW which links Exmouth and Lyme Regis. What an achievement.

Whilst run leader Clive Gilbert led a group of Mighty Greens around a 12 mile loop of West Hill and Ottery St Mary, including running past the famous Ottery bonfire on Sunday, many Mighty Greens were supporting LME’s Sidmouth 10k event by either running or marshalling.

Starting at Sidford social hall, this popular event takes you down through the Byes, up Hillside and down Beatlands over the Ford to the end of the seafront where you turn around and retrace your steps. The two steep hill climbs can catch you out but Mighty Green Toby Garrick took it all in his stride, finishing in 39:10, 7th overall in a field of 266, first SRC male to finish. Keeping it in the family Toby’s mum, Naomi Garrick was the first SRC female to finish in 55:18. Special mentions go to Colin Ryan for finishing second in his age category and to Scott Chown for knocking 5 minutes of last years’ time despite being caught on camera walking up the hill!
